Toronto is famous for its iconic CN Tower, the tallest structure in the world. But don’t let that monolithic wonder make you overlook what the city – capital of the province of Ontario – really has to offer families. Toronto is Canada’s largest city, and more than half of the new immigrants that come to the country end up here, making for diverse neighborhoods that are interesting just to stroll through. But there’s so much to see and do here that you may find yourself wishing you could extend your stay just to take it all in.
Quick Tips to Start
- Help! We’ve Got Kids is a Toronto directory of attractions, events, and services appropriate for children aged thirteen and under. You can buy a print copy but much of the information is available for free online at http://www.helpwevegotkids.com/.
- To save money on admissions, you may want to buy a Toronto CityPass. It will let you visit six attractions, including the CN Tower, the Ontario Science Centre, the Royal Ontario Museum, and the Toronto Zoo for US$38 for adults and US$24 for kids from 4 to 12 (its price in Canadian dollars fluctuates with the exchange rate). Each booklet of tickets is valid for 9 days from when the first one is used. Visit http://www.citypass.com/ for details.
